Strange Fruit
Moving forward a little in Mark 11 we find Mark connecting, in that "Markan sandwich" method, two stories that have not always played well with folks. The outer story is of Jesus cursing a fig tree for not having fruit in a time of year that fig trees don't bear fruit. Some have thought this was Jesus showing a bad temper, being selfish and petty, all kinds of things. All wrong. We'll see. The middle is Jesus turning over tables in the Temple area. Again, Jesus behaving badly or something else? Again, we'll see.
